Middle School Student Council Elections: Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders

Our middle school recently hosted this year’s Student Council elections! It was an incredible opportunity for students to step into leadership roles, represent their peers, and make a positive impact on our school community. Through the election process, students gained valuable skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and responsibility.

Candidates presented their platforms, outlining how they planned to contribute to school life and support their fellow students. All middle school students participated, either by running for office or casting their vote to help shape the future of our Student Council.

We are proud of the enthusiasm and commitment our students demonstrated, and we look forward to seeing the newly elected leaders in action!

Join the Movement: Our New Environmental Club is Here!

We are excited to announce the launch of our school’s Environmental Club! This new initiative is perfect for students who are passionate about protecting the planet and creating a sustainable future.

The club will focus on raising awareness about environmental issues, organizing green initiatives like recycling drives, and promoting eco-friendly practices within our school and community. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to collaborate, learn about conservation, and take meaningful action to make a difference.

S.T.E.M.

Here our students are working on one of the obstacle courses for their sphere-shaped robots called Sphero-bolt.  These robots can be steered  by using the edu program aligned with the robots.  They connect with their bolt and then can drive them and program them to go in different directions.  These robots can show words, play music and move through coding, drawing, or driving functions.  They had a blast trying to control  them.

Scripps National Spelling Bee: Celebrating Excellence in Spelling

Our school is thrilled to host this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee, where students showcase their spelling skills, build confidence, and celebrate academic excellence! This annual event highlights the importance of language and literacy while providing an exciting and supportive platform for friendly competition.

Students from all grade levels are encouraged to participate, testing their knowledge and determination as they spell increasingly challenging words.

Stay tuned for event details and updates.

STURGEON IN THE CLASSROOM

Spike is the lake sturgeon living at WMS for the school year.  We are participating with "Sturgeon in the Classroom" a program to bring awareness and appreciation to this protected species that lives in our Michigan waters. Spike will be released into the wild in the spring of this school year to live their best life, which can be up to 150 years!
